Dapplednose lay curled up in her nest.Her fluffy tail wrapped warmly around her.She blinked open her eyes,and sat up akwardly because of her swollen sides.She licked her side gently and smiled."It won't be long now."She purred softly.
Fawnpelt slowly walked in to the nursery. She laid down uneasy. "Did I make she right choice to come here......." she whispered to herself as she fell asleep.
In her dreams she walked through a forest. A strange cat with a starry pelt came up to her and smiled. "Hello? Are you one of those StarClan cats I've heard about?" she meowed in disbelief. The she cat didn't reply but instead she said... "A great darkness is coming for you. The strongest will become the weakest. You must bring the lost bramble for you and your kits to survive. he is your only hope."
The cat with the starry pelt faded away. Fawnpelt awoke with a jolt. "Was it just a dream? Or was the starry she-cat real? Can I stay here?" she meowed to herself. Uncertain that this place was safe for her and her kits.
Dapplednose frowned and looked at Fawnpelt."I don't know.I'll just have to pray to starclan that a medecine cat joins soon."She mewed softly,refusing to let any of her fear or worry show.
Dapplednose,noded and smiled softly."I'll go out and fetch some then.My kits will propably be born any day now."She meowed,fallowing Fawnpelt out of the den.
Dapplenose blinked in suprise. "You better stay in the medicine cat den for now on!" Stargaze said briskly. Dapplenose nodded. "On second thought, no, you better stay in the nursery. Its not easy to have kits in a small den like that" Dapplenose was excited and nervous at the same time. "I hope my kits are going to come soon!" Fawnpelt gushed. "It's late, Dapplenose needs all her strength tomorrow" Stargaze said, with a flick of his tail, he was gone. Dapplenose blinked again. Stargaze always make you think that actually seeing is a dream or illusion. It was like he wasn't real at all! Dapplenose settleed down to sleep.
"It's ok Dapplednose! When you have your kits tomorrow I will be with you the whole time!" Fawnpelt mewed. "I have to go to the warriors den... I have to go talk to one of the warriors....." she added briskly.
Dappplednose blinked open her eyes,she could tell from the darkness outside the den that it must probably be early morning.What woke me up so early?She thought.Then suddenly a pain spread up her side,and she yowled out in both pain and surprise.She gasped but soon the pain faded.After a moment another one spread over her side.Her eyes widened in fear and surprise.My kits are coming!She thought in alarm.She barely registered the activity around her as the pain clouded her green gaze.It wasen't long till the contractions were closer and closer togeather.Giving her less time to catch her breath.
(She's having two kits.One pure white tom and one pale cream and greyish brown calico she-cat.)
Deerstep gasped as she saw Dapplednose contort in pain. "Oh! Dapp-" She was cut off as Dapplednose yowled as another contraction passed over her belly. Stargaze! Thought Deerstep urgently. Running from the den, she sprinted as fast as her pregnant body would let her to the medicine cat den. "Stargaze!" She said, her normally quite voice more urgent than usual "Yes??" He asked "Dapplednose,.... Her kits!" Deerstep managed to squeak out and she felt light headed from al the commotion. "Got it!" Stargazed said and raced out of the den, Deerstep followed at a sprint.
Fawnpelt ran as fast as she could into camp. "Dapplednose!!!" she screeched. Calmed down as she reached the nursery. "I came as fast as I could! One of the apprentices alerted me. It's ok. You'll be fine." she encouraged her denmate worriedly.
Dapplednose gave a small nod and dug her claws into the soft earth beside her nest.Soon the contractions were so close apart that she could tell when they started and when they ended.She could tell the first kit was about to be born and pushed instictivly.
Stargaze rushed into the nursery. "OK, so you just hav-" he was going to say. The first kit came out, a pure white tom. "Fawnpelt, lick it!" Stargaze ordered. Then a second kit came out, a pale cream and greyish brown calico she-cat. Dapplenose breathed with relieve. "There are your beautiful kits!" Stargaze announced. "What are you going to call them?" Deerstep asked. She was watching the whole thing with wide eyes.
Dapplednose beamed and looked at her kits with soft loving eyes.The pain was already receading into a bad dream."I'll name the she-cat Wildkit and the tom Whitekit."She purred softly.She looked up at Deerheart,Fawnpelt and Stargaze."Thank-you."She added.
Deersteps heart fluttered in her chest as she watched the small kits mewl and nuzzle thier mother. This is what her kits would be like, she would be a mother soon. She felt nervous and exited at the same time "Your kits are so sweet." She muttered quietly to Dapplednose
"From now on, Dapplenose, you have to get lots of rest. It is leaf-bare and I will get Rainpaw to check on you daily" Stargaze said. Turning to the two other queens. "Make sure she gets enough to eat" the medicine cats told them. The queens nodded.
Fawnpelt walked into the den. She heard Dapplednose's kits mewling. She saw Dapplednose getting a well needed sleep. "Go to sleep little ones. Your mom is sleeping." she whispered. They settled down and suckled.
"Dapplednose." she whispered when she noticed her den-mate was awake. The day your kits start to eat fresh kill I need to talk to you. Out in the forest." she requested. "My kits will be almost old enough to eat it also. I won't let them eat it, but I think they can go without milk for 5 minutes." she added.
Deerstep listen quietly as her two denmates talked about theier kits and when they were due. She wondered when hers would come, She hoped her kits could come within a couple days of the other kits, so that they would be friends.
Fawnpelt was in the middle of a bite of vole when suddenly, a surge of pain erupted through her body. "Dapplednose! I'm having them!" she yowled to her friend in pain. Dapplednose rushed to the medicine cats den. "Stargaze! Rainpaw! Fawnpelt's kits are coming!" she called.
The three rushed down to the nursery where Fawnpelt lay in pain. A powerful ripple surged through her body. "It's about to come! The first one!" she mewed.
Wildkit and Whitekit looked over at Fawnpelt weirdly. "Mommy... What's wrong with her?" They whispered. "She's having kits. You might become friends with them." she replied. "Ooh! I bet I'M going to be best friends with all of them before YOU!" Wildkit joked teasingly to her sister. "Not if I can help it! Shhh! Let's watch!" Whitekit replied. They both turned their attention to Fawnpelt who lay there with a stick clamped in her mouth, moaning. "Why is it so much PAIN?" she half wailed half asked Stargaze.
"The she-cat with the bluish-grayish pelt is named Moonkit. Than the tom with the dark grey pelt is called..... Tigerkit. And last of all the other tom with the light grey pelt is named Jaykit.!" she mewed. The kits suckled on their mother's belly.
"Stargaze?" she asked. "Jaykkit looks very weak. I know there is somethiing wrong with him. I don't know what though." she fretted.
Fawnpelt trudged out of the nursery with Tigerkit hanging on her leg. She walked over to the Warrior's den awkwardly. "Hey Blazestreak. Can you get this off me?" she meowed. Tigerkit squeaked and jumped off his mother's leg. He hid behind her legs. "Thanks... I guess." she said. "First time out of the nursery?" Blazestreak asked. "Erm... Yes. But only to go straight back inside!" she replied, urging Tigerkit back into the nursery while he protested. When she finally got him in she called out, "Thank You!!".
Dapplednose smiled as Fawnpelt paded back into the nursery,with Tigerkit no longer holding onto her leg."How'd you get him off?"She asked.
Wildkit nudged her brother and paded excitedly over to the new kits."Hi!"She squeaked. Whitekit fallowed her more calmly and smiled at the new kits. Wildkit looked up at Fawnpelt,"When will we be able to play with them?"She asked excitedly.
"A little help from Blazestreak. And the fact that the only cats he has ever seen are she-cats and kits." she said, laughing.
She turned to Wildkit. "Probably in the next 6 or 7 days. Than you guys can play till your hearts content!" she replied.
The kits turned their attention to the approaching kits. "Hi!" Tigerkit squeaked. "Mommy! Can we play?" he asked eagerly. "No not for a couple days!" she called. Still in deep conversation with the other queens.
Tigerkit and Dapplednose's kits chatted together. Moonkit and Jaykit even pitched in a little. "They are going to be great friends." fawnpelt mewed to her denmate, smiling.
Dapplednose laughed softly and smiled,She looked at the kits,"I just hope their not gonna be the kinda friends that spend the whole night talking when they should be sleeping."She mewed.
"haha. Yes. Maybe some nights they can do that. I remember when I was a rouge, me and my brothers and sisters would stay up ALL night talking. Then our parents would shush us countless times." she meowed with a twinkle in her eyes.
Fawnpelt woke up when she felt something on her tail. She turned around, she saw a flash of dark tabby fur, than was gone. She understood. "Hmm.... I wonder where the kits could be..." she faked. She heard tiny whispers and a "Shhh Jaykit!". She trailed over to where the kits where the kits where hiding, pretending not to notice them. "HMM. I THINK I'LL JUST TAKE THEIR FRESH KILL." she teased louder. Almost immediately the kits burs-ted out of their hiding spot and screeched, "NOOOOO!". They tackled their mother. "Ok! Ok! I surrender!" she meowed. "Eat your fresh kill. Then go play with Dapplednose's kits. I have to talk to her." she told them.
She walked over to Dapplednose. "It's time I tell you. Come on. Out in the forest where nobody can hear us." she meowed. "Ok." Dapplednose replied.
Dapplednose stood up and fallowed Fawnpelt tawards the forest.She'd been waiting a long time to hear what her friend wanted to tell her.I wonder what it could be?She thought.
Fawnpelt and Dapplednose walked into the forest silently. Fawnpelt turned to Dapplednose. "When I first came to the clan, I had a dream from a Starclan she-cat. It sounded like a prophecy. Only, for me." she explained. She told her how the starry cat came to her. "This is what she said; "A great darkness is coming for you. The strongest will become the weakest. You must bring the lost bramble for you and your kits to survive. he is your only hope." I don't know what that means. How would a bramble protect my family? And what does he mean by, the strongest will become the weakest? I don't understand this! I mean, maybe Bramble could be a cat...... I think I'm just crazy!" she bursted out.
Dapplednose frowned and shook her head."Your not.You wouldn't be the first cat to receive a prophecy.Your right about it maybe meaning a cat,but maybe stargaze would be better at helping you figure out what it means.Have you asked him?"she asked.
Wildkit smiled as Jaykit,Moonkit and Tigerkit paded over to her and her brother."We should do something while Dapplednose and Fawnpelt are gone!"She mewed.
"I don't think it's a good idea.What if they come back before we do?" Whitekit mewed.Wildkit smiled and gave her brother a nudge."They won't,they always talk for hours when the get started.We'll be back a long time before they do."She assured him.He noded after a few moments."Ok then..but i still don't think it's such a good idea.Wildkit smiled,hardly noticing what he said after agreeing."How should we get out of camp?"She whispered so she wouldn't wake deerstep,who was sleeping.
"Oooh! I know a secret way out through the dirtplace!" Moonkit pitched in. "The warriors hid it in ferns so we wouldn't get any ideas. Don't ask me how I found it.... It sorta was an erm... accident." she said. Tigerkit, Wildkit, and Moonkit hid in a corner of the nursery, Moonkit drawing the map to the ferns. Jaykit and Whitekit watching and not thinking this was a good idea. "Ok! Break!" Tigerkit said. "Shhh! Let's go! but don't wake up Deerstep!" he whispered. Moonkit thought, he was a natural leader.
Wildkit fallowed Tigerkit as he led the way out.Her eyes glowed excitedly,at the thought of seeing what was outside the camp.Whitekit brought up the rear of the group making sure they weren't noticed.
Tigerkit padded out into a clearing proudly. He was clearly trying to impress the group. "Watch out!!!!" Wildkit squeaked. Fawnpelt and Dapplednose were coming. He tried to back away into the ferns but- too late! He was spotted. Fawnpelt gave him an angry glare. "Umm.. Hi Mom. I was just erm.. Trying to find you. Yes! Trying to find you." he squeaked. Fawnpelt clearly didn't believe him. She pointed at the ferns where the others were hiding. Dapplednose understood. "Kits. We smell you in there." she scolded. "You 5 are going straight back into the nursery right now. And no playing moss ball for 3 days." Fawnpelt meowed. "Yes. We expect more of you kits." Dapplednose agreed. The 5 kits trailed behind their mothers, tails drooped. Back into camp. When nobody noticed, Tigerkit slipped out of the group and ran next to the Waveclan border. He stopped and breathed heavily. He ran too far. He was in Waveclan territory. "Fox Dung!" he cursed. Somebody heard him. A kit white as snow approached him. He tried to run away but she caught him on the tail. "I'm Snowkit, and I'm taking you back to my camp!" she squeaked.

Deerstep- Deerstep woke from her peaceful slumber to a sharp pain in her belly. Propping herself up on her front paws, she looked down at her enlarged belly. She cringed as a contraction, long and painful passed through her body. Grunting with pain, she lay back down, knowing that it was time for the kits to come. "Help!" She yowled weakly, though she doubt anyone had heard her. So, gritting her teeth, she waited for the long hours of pain to be over with. ------ half an hour later, Deerstep was laying there with two small kittens suckling at her belly, one a shecat, one a tom. "Ill call you Stagkit," She said, touching the toms head with her nose " For your brown pelt" "And Ill name you Auburnkit" She said, nosing the little black shecat with striking yellow eyes
"Oh no!" fawnpelt meowed when she stepped into the nursery. "I am sooooo sorry Deerstep! I should have known and alerted Stargaze!" she wailed. She blamed herself for Deerstep having to kit on her own. "What are their names?" she asked, sniffling.
Fawnpelt was paranoid. Her kit was in Waveclan. She was pacing. "When are they giving him back? What are they doing to him? Is he ok?" she asked herself. The three queens were staring at her weirdly. "Will his apprenticeship be delayed?" she asked Foreststar.
Dapplednose nudged the older kits out of the nursery,before padding over to Fawnpelt and touching her tail tip comfortingly on her shoulder for a moment."Riverstar the leader of waveclan is a queen herself Fawnpelt.I'm certain that if any Waveclan cats have found him, that they will take care of him.The're probably just waiting for the full moon's peace to return him."She murmured softly,as she looked at her den mate sympethicaly.
-Outside the Nursery-
"I can't beleive Tigerkit when to Waveclan without us!"Wildkit mewed."I think it's a good thing he went without us,the queens would be franctic if we'd all gone."Whitekit mewed.Wildkit snorted,"Still,just think of all the fun he must be having and all the things he must be learning!I bet he'll have a bunch of stories to tell of about his adventure when he gets back."She mewed gloomily,hating missing out on so much.
"I don't think so." Moonkit meowed to Whitekit. "I know he is friends with a she-cat names Snowkit there but I think he is bored. Well, that's what the warriors told me." Moonkit added.
"Ohhh! Foreststar! How many lives left?" Fawnpelt wailed.
All of the sudden, Tigerkit burst through the front entrance and into the nursery. "I got here just in time!" he meowed. "Rainpaw filled me in." he declared. He sat down next to his leader. He started crying along with the rest of his siblings. "She's gonna die isn't she?" Jaykit asked Stargaze. Jaykit's eyes were clouded. "She-she always would play with me when I was to little and weak to play with the rest of the kits." Jaykit wailed then sniffled.
Stargaze tried to block out all the sounds the kits were making. He couldn't. "BE QUIET!" He ordered. Everyone froze. The only sound was Foreststar's kits mewling. "Stargaze?" Fawnpelt said. "How many left?" "2" the medcine cat replied. "FORESTSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!" Stonefang screamed. bursting into the nursery. "FORESTSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!" The kits cried. "Is she going to live?" Stonefang whispered to Stargaze. knowing the answer already. No cat could live losing so uch blood. Stargaze shook his head sadly, watching his own sister die. She was on her last life. "Good- bye- Stone- fang- I- love- you-" Foreststar said, closing her eyes, she took her last breath.
All the kits in the nursery wailed as loud as possible. This time Stargaze didn't stop them, he knew there was no point. Fawnpelt was crying to. Foreststar was the best leader she'd ever known, and now she was gone. "May your trip to Starclan be safe." she whispered to the body.
The cats started to lick the two kits. "Is this one blind!?" Fawnpelt asked. "No. It just looks like it." Stargaze firmly answered. His and Stonefang's eyes were clouded heavily with grief.
Stonefang looked at foreststar is gaze filled with grief and then at their kits.He looked up at stargaze,"How are the kits,will they be alright?"He asked.He couldn't loose his mate and his kits all at once could he?!?Starclan couldn't be so cruel!He thought.
Dapplednose bowed her head in grief for a moment before looking from Stonefang to Stargaze and finaly Fawnpelt."One of us will have to look after them.I think Deerstep should since she's still nursing her kits."She mewed very softly.
RowanClaw burst into the Nursery "I can't find StarGaze or RainPaw anywhere!! Do any of you know or have helped deliver kits?!" RowanClaw asked auxtiously. Trying not to trip on SnowKit.
Auburnkit and Stagkit huddled close to eachother and Deerstep. All the commotion was unsettling the small newborns. "Im going to go see whats going on, kits, dont worr, Ill be back soon" Said thier shy, gentle mother. "What do you think of the other kits?" Stagkit asked, His warm brown gaze looking warily out the entrance. "They seem nice, but they're all so much bigger than us." Said the mild mannered Auburnkit.
Dapplednose watched her kits as they played.They would be made apprentices soon.A smile spread across her face,and that ment she'd be able to start her new duties as deputy.She thought.She watched her kits as the pounced on each other and her wiskers twitched in amusement.I know they'll make me proud she thought confidently.She was still surprised Blazestar had chosen her to be deputy.I hope i can serve him and my clan well.She thought.
Snowkit sat there while her sister was playing with the other kits. She wasn't interested in what they were saying, she couldn't see what they saw. She just sat there. "You want to play?" Jaykit asked quietly. "NO." Snowkit said.
Stonefang paded over to the nursery,he looked over at his daughters and smiled.He missed Foreststar a lot,but their kits kept him going.He neared Snowkit just in time to hear her anserw to Jaykit's question."Don't you want to play with the other kits?"He asked her.Looking over to where Silverkit was playing with the others nearby.
Moonkit and Jaykit looked over at the bummed out Snowkit. "Maybe she'll play with me when she is older.." Jaykit muttered. "I know what it's like not being able to play with everybody else." he added.He walked over to where his siblings and the new kits were playing and sat down.
Featherkit curled her tail over her paws, batting her paws at the stiff mouse in front of her. She was more in of a quiet moment, she barley made a sound.
Fawnpelt woke up her kits. They opened their eyes drowsily. "What are we doing Mommy? It's not even morning yet!" Moonkit squeaked. "Shh! Wake up. Just follow me.." Fawnpelt whispered.
I don't know where I am going with this. I think they are leaving the clan. :0
Featherkit blinked, she noticed Fawnpelt and her kits struggling to make way. Featehrkit stopped them all, in their tracks; "Where are you going?" Featherkit asked curiously, it wasn't that they were out so early, that concerned her. It was that they were headed towards the barrier, towards the ending border and out of Forestclan's terittory.
Featherkit's eyes widened, Featherkit always loved Jaykit's company, support and encouragement, she couldn't just let them go. "But-" Then her eyes brightened, "Can I come along?"
"Mommy, can Featherkit come to?" Jaykit whispered.
"I don't know.. The is adventure is not what you think Jay. We- we are leaving the clan." Fawnpelt told her son. Jaykit gasped and sighed. Featherkit had heard and looked worried.
Featherkit looked troubled, but what was there here in Forestclan for herself anyway? Without thinking twice about it she nodded quickly and padded out the border with them.
Featherkit looked towards Jaykit drowsily, knowing the call she stood up stretching her tail and back. Padding alongside Jaykit they padded along with the group. "Do you think Forestclan is worried about us?" Asked Featherkit in a soft tone.
"I don't know... I know Dapplednose is.. She always liked my mother. They were good friends." He firmly replied. "Why'd you come with us?" he asked his friend.
Featherkit looked down and began, "Well, because Forestclan doesn't have anything for me anymore. I just..I just didn't fit in, and you're my best friend. I wouldn't let you go without a fight." Featherkit exclaimed, her eyes starting to bright up once more .
Featherkit eyed Fawnpelt, she knew that look. Padding up to her she smiled, "I can look after myself, I'm not merrily a kit anymore!" She laughed, beckoning Jaykit to come sit beside her with Fawnpelt
"I know.. But still.." she replied. The sun went down slowly. "Time for bed." she told the kits. Moonkit settled down with no argument. Tigerkit on the other-hand, objected. Fawnpelt finally got him to sleep.
Featherkit didn't follow the other kits, she sat outside of them keeping each eye open. She wasn't tired yet, luckily. She wandered when her apprentice ceremony would be, she knew it would've been in quite a while. Keeping watch was the first step to becoming a warrior and she would gladly do that tonight.
Fawnpelt woke up- realizing the small kit was keeping watch. "You don't have to do that you know. You're just a kit." she told Featherkit. "But you are up- so you might as well help me keep watch.
Featherkit nodded, "Why- Why did you leave Fawnpelt? Forestclan offered you're kits and family all they would need to survive and you left. Why?" She questioned, softly. Not taring her eyes off of the boundary they dwelled in for now.
Featherkit narrowed her eyes in hostility, "But they did! They were given a place to sleep at night when it was cold, they had enough food and then even had someone to look after them when they were sick!" Her tone softened, "Now . We have no where else to go," She tilted her head.
Featherkit leaped up, "Ive seen the other warriors talk about them, all good things. Their leader is called Willowstar? Their camp isn't to far from here," She spoke.
"Hiddenclan!?" meowed a drowsy Moonkit. Fawnpelt rouse Tigerkit- slowly- he is not a morning person. Tigerkit yawned- and that yawn traveled to Moonkit- onto Featherkit- and then Jaykit. "Sleepy Kitties!" Fawnpelt purred. She started to wash Tigerkit- making him look presentable- the others were fine. Just a few messes of fur here and there.
"They- they will... I know a cat there.. She goes by the name of Shimmerpool. She doesn't trust many- but she does trust me." Fawnpelt meowed- with knowledge on the subject.
"And I know just where to find Hiddenclan. I've heard they live in a forest mainly consisting of Pine Trees- but their territory is also covered in shadows.." she explained.

Stargaze always make you think that actually seeing is a dream or illusion. It was like he wasn't real at all!
Dapplenose settleed down to sleep.
"It's ok Dapplednose! When you have your kits tomorrow I will be with you the whole time!" Fawnpelt mewed. "I have to go to the warriors den... I have to go talk to one of the warriors....." she added briskly.
ReplyDeleteDappplednose blinked open her eyes,she could tell from the darkness outside the den that it must probably be early morning.What woke me up so early?She thought.Then suddenly a pain spread up her side,and she yowled out in both pain and surprise.She gasped but soon the pain faded.After a moment another one spread over her side.Her eyes widened in fear and surprise.My kits are coming!She thought in alarm.She barely registered the activity around her as the pain clouded her green gaze.It wasen't long till the contractions were closer and closer togeather.Giving her less time to catch her breath.

Deerstep gasped as she saw Dapplednose contort in pain.
ReplyDelete"Oh! Dapp-" She was cut off as Dapplednose yowled as another contraction passed over her belly. Stargaze! Thought Deerstep urgently. Running from the den, she sprinted as fast as her pregnant body would let her to the medicine cat den.
"Stargaze!" She said, her normally quite voice more urgent than usual
"Yes??" He asked
"Dapplednose,.... Her kits!" Deerstep managed to squeak out and she felt light headed from al the commotion.
"Got it!" Stargazed said and raced out of the den, Deerstep followed at a sprint.
Fawnpelt ran as fast as she could into camp. "Dapplednose!!!" she screeched.
ReplyDeleteCalmed down as she reached the nursery. "I came as fast as I could! One of the apprentices alerted me. It's ok. You'll be fine." she encouraged her denmate worriedly.
Dapplednose gave a small nod and dug her claws into the soft earth beside her nest.Soon the contractions were so close apart that she could tell when they started and when they ended.She could tell the first kit was about to be born and pushed instictivly.

ReplyDelete"OK, so you just hav-" he was going to say.
The first kit came out, a pure white tom.
"Fawnpelt, lick it!" Stargaze ordered.
Then a second kit came out, a pale cream and greyish brown calico she-cat.
Dapplenose breathed with relieve.
"There are your beautiful kits!" Stargaze announced.
"What are you going to call them?" Deerstep asked. She was watching the whole thing with wide eyes.
-starts licking- "Ohhh! They are soooo cuteee!!! I am so proud! You will be a great mother!" she cooed.
DeleteDapplednose beamed and looked at her kits with soft loving eyes.The pain was already receading into a bad dream."I'll name the she-cat Wildkit and the tom Whitekit."She purred softly.She looked up at Deerheart,Fawnpelt and Stargaze."Thank-you."She added.
ReplyDeleteDeersteps heart fluttered in her chest as she watched the small kits mewl and nuzzle thier mother. This is what her kits would be like, she would be a mother soon. She felt nervous and exited at the same time

"From now on, Dapplenose, you have to get lots of rest. It is leaf-bare and I will get Rainpaw to check on you daily" Stargaze said.

"Make sure she gets enough to eat" the medicine cats told them.
The queens nodded.
Dapplednose smiled tiredly."Thank-you Deersteps."She meowed.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt walked into the den. She heard Dapplednose's kits mewling. She saw Dapplednose getting a well needed sleep. "Go to sleep little ones. Your mom is sleeping." she whispered. They settled down and suckled.
ReplyDelete"Dapplednose." she whispered when she noticed her den-mate was awake. The day your kits start to eat fresh kill I need to talk to you. Out in the forest." she requested. "My kits will be almost old enough to eat it also. I won't let them eat it, but I think they can go without milk for 5 minutes." she added.
ReplyDeleteDapplednose looked at Fawnpelt and noded."Sure.Your kits must be due soon then."She meowed softly.
ReplyDelete"Yes. They are. Probably a couple of days. At least 6." she mewed.
ReplyDelete"I hope our kits get along well. After all, they are only a few sunrises apart." she added.
Dapplednose smiled and murmured in agreement."I just hope they don't all decide to go go on big adventures."She meowed.
ReplyDeleteDeerstep listen quietly as her two denmates talked about theier kits and when they were due. She wondered when hers would come, She hoped her kits could come within a couple days of the other kits, so that they would be friends.

ReplyDelete"hey Deerstep, wanna share a mouse?" she asked. "I heard Runningpaw caught it just for you." she added.

ReplyDelete"brrrr!!" Fawnpelt shivered. "Is LeafBare EVER going to end?" she complained.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt was in the middle of a bite of vole when suddenly, a surge of pain erupted through her body. "Dapplednose! I'm having them!" she yowled to her friend in pain. Dapplednose rushed to the medicine cats den. "Stargaze! Rainpaw! Fawnpelt's kits are coming!" she called.
ReplyDeleteThe three rushed down to the nursery where Fawnpelt lay in pain. A powerful ripple surged through her body. "It's about to come! The first one!" she mewed.
Dapplednose looked at Fawnpelt sympethicly,"Your doing great Fawnpelt!"She meowed incouragingly.

Wildkit and Whitekit looked over at Fawnpelt weirdly.
ReplyDelete"Mommy... What's wrong with her?" They whispered. "She's having kits. You might become friends with them." she replied.
"Ooh! I bet I'M going to be best friends with all of them before YOU!" Wildkit joked teasingly to her sister.
"Not if I can help it! Shhh! Let's watch!" Whitekit replied.
They both turned their attention to Fawnpelt who lay there with a stick clamped in her mouth, moaning.
"Why is it so much PAIN?" she half wailed half asked Stargaze.
"Hey come on!" Stargaze assured her. "Its nearly over! There! All done. Now, what are their names?"

"The she-cat with the bluish-grayish pelt is named Moonkit. Than the tom with the dark grey pelt is called..... Tigerkit. And last of all the other tom with the light grey pelt is named Jaykit.!" she mewed. The kits suckled on their mother's belly.
ReplyDelete"Stargaze?" she asked. "Jaykkit looks very weak. I know there is somethiing wrong with him. I don't know what though." she fretted.
Fawnpelt trudged out of the nursery with Tigerkit hanging on her leg. She walked over to the Warrior's den awkwardly. "Hey Blazestreak. Can you get this off me?" she meowed. Tigerkit squeaked and jumped off his mother's leg. He hid behind her legs. "Thanks... I guess." she said. "First time out of the nursery?" Blazestreak asked. "Erm... Yes. But only to go straight back inside!" she replied, urging Tigerkit back into the nursery while he protested. When she finally got him in she called out, "Thank You!!".

Whitekit fallowed her more calmly and smiled at the new kits.
Wildkit looked up at Fawnpelt,"When will we be able to play with them?"She asked excitedly.
"A little help from Blazestreak. And the fact that the only cats he has ever seen are she-cats and kits." she said, laughing.
DeleteShe turned to Wildkit. "Probably in the next 6 or 7 days. Than you guys can play till your hearts content!" she replied.
The kits turned their attention to the approaching kits. "Hi!" Tigerkit squeaked. "Mommy! Can we play?" he asked eagerly. "No not for a couple days!" she called. Still in deep conversation with the other queens.
Tigerkit and Dapplednose's kits chatted together. Moonkit and Jaykit even pitched in a little. "They are going to be great friends." fawnpelt mewed to her denmate, smiling.
Dapplednose laughed softly and smiled,She looked at the kits,"I just hope their not gonna be the kinda friends that spend the whole night talking when they should be sleeping."She mewed.
ReplyDelete"haha. Yes. Maybe some nights they can do that. I remember when I was a rouge, me and my brothers and sisters would stay up ALL night talking. Then our parents would shush us countless times." she meowed with a twinkle in her eyes.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt woke up when she felt something on her tail. She turned around, she saw a flash of dark tabby fur, than was gone. She understood. "Hmm.... I wonder where the kits could be..." she faked. She heard tiny whispers and a "Shhh Jaykit!". She trailed over to where the kits where the kits where hiding, pretending not to notice them. "HMM. I THINK I'LL JUST TAKE THEIR FRESH KILL." she teased louder. Almost immediately the kits burs-ted out of their hiding spot and screeched, "NOOOOO!". They tackled their mother. "Ok! Ok! I surrender!" she meowed. "Eat your fresh kill. Then go play with Dapplednose's kits. I have to talk to her." she told them.

Dapplednose stood up and fallowed Fawnpelt tawards the forest.She'd been waiting a long time to hear what her friend wanted to tell her.I wonder what it could be?She thought.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt and Dapplednose walked into the forest silently. Fawnpelt turned to Dapplednose. "When I first came to the clan, I had a dream from a Starclan she-cat. It sounded like a prophecy. Only, for me." she explained. She told her how the starry cat came to her. "This is what she said; "A great darkness is coming for you. The strongest will become the weakest. You must bring the lost bramble for you and your kits to survive. he is your only hope." I don't know what that means. How would a bramble protect my family? And what does he mean by, the strongest will become the weakest? I don't understand this! I mean, maybe Bramble could be a cat...... I think I'm just crazy!" she bursted out.
ReplyDeleteDapplednose frowned and shook her head."Your not.You wouldn't be the first cat to receive a prophecy.Your right about it maybe meaning a cat,but maybe stargaze would be better at helping you figure out what it means.Have you asked him?"she asked.

"No I haven't thought about that I'll go ask him in a bit." she replied thoughtfully. They continued on talking for a bit.

"Yea! Totally!" Tigerkit replied. "Let's sneak out! Jaykit, are you ok to come?" Wildkit meowed. Jaykit nodded slowly.
"I don't think it's a good idea.What if they come back before we do?" Whitekit mewed.Wildkit smiled and gave her brother a nudge."They won't,they always talk for hours when the get started.We'll be back a long time before they do."She assured him.He noded after a few moments."Ok then..but i still don't think it's such a good idea.Wildkit smiled,hardly noticing what he said after agreeing."How should we get out of camp?"She whispered so she wouldn't wake deerstep,who was sleeping.
ReplyDelete"Oooh! I know a secret way out through the dirtplace!" Moonkit pitched in. "The warriors hid it in ferns so we wouldn't get any ideas. Don't ask me how I found it.... It sorta was an erm... accident." she said.
ReplyDeleteTigerkit, Wildkit, and Moonkit hid in a corner of the nursery, Moonkit drawing the map to the ferns. Jaykit and Whitekit watching and not thinking this was a good idea. "Ok! Break!" Tigerkit said. "Shhh! Let's go! but don't wake up Deerstep!" he whispered. Moonkit thought, he was a natural leader.
Wildkit fallowed Tigerkit as he led the way out.Her eyes glowed excitedly,at the thought of seeing what was outside the camp.Whitekit brought up the rear of the group making sure they weren't noticed.
ReplyDeleteTigerkit padded out into a clearing proudly. He was clearly trying to impress the group. "Watch out!!!!" Wildkit squeaked. Fawnpelt and Dapplednose were coming. He tried to back away into the ferns but- too late! He was spotted. Fawnpelt gave him an angry glare. "Umm.. Hi Mom. I was just erm.. Trying to find you. Yes! Trying to find you." he squeaked.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt clearly didn't believe him. She pointed at the ferns where the others were hiding. Dapplednose understood. "Kits. We smell you in there." she scolded. "You 5 are going straight back into the nursery right now. And no playing moss ball for 3 days." Fawnpelt meowed. "Yes. We expect more of you kits." Dapplednose agreed.
The 5 kits trailed behind their mothers, tails drooped. Back into camp. When nobody noticed, Tigerkit slipped out of the group and ran next to the Waveclan border. He stopped and breathed heavily. He ran too far. He was in Waveclan territory. "Fox Dung!" he cursed. Somebody heard him. A kit white as snow approached him. He tried to run away but she caught him on the tail. "I'm Snowkit, and I'm taking you back to my camp!" she squeaked.

Deerstep- Deerstep woke from her peaceful slumber to a sharp pain in her belly. Propping herself up on her front paws, she looked down at her enlarged belly. She cringed as a contraction, long and painful passed through her body. Grunting with pain, she lay back down, knowing that it was time for the kits to come.
ReplyDelete"Help!" She yowled weakly, though she doubt anyone had heard her. So, gritting her teeth, she waited for the long hours of pain to be over with.

half an hour later, Deerstep was laying there with two small kittens suckling at her belly, one a shecat, one a tom.
"Ill call you Stagkit," She said, touching the toms head with her nose " For your brown pelt"
"And Ill name you Auburnkit" She said, nosing the little black shecat with striking yellow eyes
"Oh no!" fawnpelt meowed when she stepped into the nursery. "I am sooooo sorry Deerstep! I should have known and alerted Stargaze!" she wailed. She blamed herself for Deerstep having to kit on her own. "What are their names?" she asked, sniffling.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt was paranoid. Her kit was in Waveclan. She was pacing. "When are they giving him back? What are they doing to him? Is he ok?" she asked herself. The three queens were staring at her weirdly. "Will his apprenticeship be delayed?" she asked Foreststar.

Dapplednose nudged the older kits out of the nursery,before padding over to Fawnpelt and touching her tail tip comfortingly on her shoulder for a moment."Riverstar the leader of waveclan is a queen herself Fawnpelt.I'm certain that if any Waveclan cats have found him, that they will take care of him.The're probably just waiting for the full moon's peace to return him."She murmured softly,as she looked at her den mate sympethicaly.

"I can't beleive Tigerkit when to Waveclan without us!"Wildkit mewed."I think it's a good thing he went without us,the queens would be franctic if we'd all gone."Whitekit mewed.Wildkit snorted,"Still,just think of all the fun he must be having and all the things he must be learning!I bet he'll have a bunch of stories to tell of about his adventure when he gets back."She mewed gloomily,hating missing out on so much.
"I don't think so." Moonkit meowed to Whitekit. "I know he is friends with a she-cat names Snowkit there but I think he is bored. Well, that's what the warriors told me." Moonkit added.

Stagkit hopped out of the nursery for the first time. Soon came Auburnkit. "Hi! You must be the new kits!" Moonkit greeted.

"Ohhh! Foreststar! How many lives left?" Fawnpelt wailed.
ReplyDeleteAll of the sudden, Tigerkit burst through the front entrance and into the nursery. "I got here just in time!" he meowed. "Rainpaw filled me in." he declared. He sat down next to his leader. He started crying along with the rest of his siblings. "She's gonna die isn't she?" Jaykit asked Stargaze. Jaykit's eyes were clouded. "She-she always would play with me when I was to little and weak to play with the rest of the kits." Jaykit wailed then sniffled.
Poor Jaykit.
Stargaze tried to block out all the sounds the kits were making. He couldn't.
ReplyDelete"BE QUIET!" He ordered.
Everyone froze. The only sound was Foreststar's kits mewling.
"Stargaze?" Fawnpelt said. "How many left?"
"2" the medcine cat replied.
"FORESTSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!" Stonefang screamed. bursting into the nursery.
"FORESTSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!" The kits cried.
"Is she going to live?" Stonefang whispered to Stargaze. knowing the answer already. No cat could live losing so uch blood.
Stargaze shook his head sadly, watching his own sister die. She was on her last life.
"Good- bye- Stone- fang- I- love- you-" Foreststar said, closing her eyes, she took her last breath.
All the kits in the nursery wailed as loud as possible. This time Stargaze didn't stop them, he knew there was no point. Fawnpelt was crying to. Foreststar was the best leader she'd ever known, and now she was gone. "May your trip to Starclan be safe." she whispered to the body.
ReplyDeleteThe cats started to lick the two kits. "Is this one blind!?" Fawnpelt asked. "No. It just looks like it." Stargaze firmly answered. His and Stonefang's eyes were clouded heavily with grief.

ReplyDeleteStonefang looked at foreststar is gaze filled with grief and then at their kits.He looked up at stargaze,"How are the kits,will they be alright?"He asked.He couldn't loose his mate and his kits all at once could he?!?Starclan couldn't be so cruel!He thought.

"What do you think of the other kits?" Stagkit asked, His warm brown gaze looking warily out the entrance.
"They seem nice, but they're all so much bigger than us." Said the mild mannered Auburnkit.
Moonkit walked over to the kits. She was the gentlest of her siblings.

Dapplednose watched her kits as they played.They would be made apprentices soon.A smile spread across her face,and that ment she'd be able to start her new duties as deputy.She thought.She watched her kits as the pounced on each other and her wiskers twitched in amusement.I know they'll make me proud she thought confidently.She was still surprised Blazestar had chosen her to be deputy.I hope i can serve him and my clan well.She thought.
ReplyDeleteSnowkit sat there while her sister was playing with the other kits. She wasn't interested in what they were saying, she couldn't see what they saw. She just sat there.

Stonefang paded over to the nursery,he looked over at his daughters and smiled.He missed Foreststar a lot,but their kits kept him going.He neared Snowkit just in time to hear her anserw to Jaykit's question."Don't you want to play with the other kits?"He asked her.Looking over to where Silverkit was playing with the others nearby.

Moonkit and Jaykit looked over at the bummed out Snowkit. "Maybe she'll play with me when she is older.." Jaykit muttered. "I know what it's like not being able to play with everybody else." he added.He walked over to where his siblings and the new kits were playing and sat down.

Featherkit curled her tail over her paws, batting her paws at the stiff mouse in front of her. She was more in of a quiet moment, she barley made a sound.

Featherkit blinked, she noticed Fawnpelt and her kits struggling to make way.
ReplyDeleteFeatehrkit stopped them all, in their tracks;
"Where are you going?" Featherkit asked curiously, it wasn't that they were out so early, that concerned her. It was that they were headed towards the barrier, towards the ending border and out of Forestclan's terittory.
Stagkit wearily opened one eye.
ReplyDelete"Whas goin' on? " He muttered drowsily, his deep sleeping sister still fast asleep
"I don't know. Mommy says were going on an adventure!" Jaykit whispered.

Jaykit turned to his mother. "I don't know, to another clan possibly." Fawnpelt answered.

Without thinking twice about it she nodded quickly and padded out the border with them.
Jaykit smiled. His friend was coming with him!

Featherkit shared a plump vole with Jaykit, his company was reassuring and safe. Licking his muzzle playfully she batted his ear claws unsheathed.

Jaykit sneezed, from the moss tickling his nose.

Featherkit looked towards Jaykit drowsily, knowing the call she stood up stretching her tail and back.

"Do you think Forestclan is worried about us?" Asked Featherkit in a soft tone.
"I don't know... I know Dapplednose is.. She always liked my mother. They were good friends." He firmly replied.

Featherkit looked down and began,
ReplyDelete"Well, because Forestclan doesn't have anything for me anymore. I just..I just didn't fit in, and you're my best friend. I wouldn't let you go without a fight." Featherkit exclaimed, her eyes starting to bright up once more .
"Yeah. I'd do the same for you." he replied to Featherkit.
ReplyDeleteMoonkit and Tigerkit were playing mossball, Tigerkit winning of course.
Featherkit laughed a little, batting his ear twice softly.

"Your welcome." he replied. He batted her nose, not hurting her.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt sighed. She wondered if she could ever take care of four kits all alone.
Featherkit eyed Fawnpelt, she knew that look. Padding up to her she smiled,
ReplyDelete"I can look after myself, I'm not merrily a kit anymore!" She laughed, beckoning Jaykit to come sit beside her with Fawnpelt
"I know.. But still.." she replied.
ReplyDeleteThe sun went down slowly. "Time for bed." she told the kits.
Moonkit settled down with no argument. Tigerkit on the other-hand, objected. Fawnpelt finally got him to sleep.
Featherkit didn't follow the other kits, she sat outside of them keeping each eye open.
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't tired yet, luckily. She wandered when her apprentice ceremony would be, she knew it would've been in quite a while. Keeping watch was the first step to becoming a warrior and she would gladly do that tonight.
Fawnpelt woke up- realizing the small kit was keeping watch.
ReplyDelete"You don't have to do that you know. You're just a kit." she told Featherkit.
"But you are up- so you might as well help me keep watch.
Featherkit nodded, "Why- Why did you leave Fawnpelt? Forestclan offered you're kits and family all they would need to survive and you left. Why?" She questioned, softly. Not taring her eyes off of the boundary they dwelled in for now.
ReplyDelete"There wasn't much left for me if you think about it. I needed to give my kits a better childhood." she meowed- sighing.
ReplyDeleteFeatherkit narrowed her eyes in hostility,
ReplyDelete"But they did! They were given a place to sleep at night when it was cold, they had enough food and then even had someone to look after them when they were sick!"
Her tone softened,
"Now . We have no where else to go," She tilted her head.
"Yes- we do. I know a place." Fawnpelt told the kit. "It is peaceful there- another clan." she added.

ReplyDelete"I don't remember its name..." she replied with a twisted thinking face.
ReplyDeleteFeatherkit twitched her ear,
ReplyDelete"Maybe..Maybe we could try and find Willowclan?" She asked,
"WillowClan...." Fawnpelt whispered.
ReplyDelete"I have heard that name before..." she added.
Featherkit nodded, "Or hiddenclan!" She said happily, her mind filled in running thoughts.
ReplyDelete"Yes! That one! That was the one that I thought of! I remember it!" Fawnpelt beamed.
ReplyDeleteFeatherkit leaped up,
ReplyDelete"Ive seen the other warriors talk about them, all good things. Their leader is called Willowstar? Their camp isn't to far from here," She spoke.
"Yes.. You are right.." she replied. The sun was beginning to come up.
ReplyDelete"Come on. Let's rise the others and tell them." Fawnpelt instructed.
She got up slowly- stretching.
Featherkit pounced onto Jaykit, nudging him constantly.
ReplyDelete"Wake up! Were headed for Hiddenclan!" She said, finally getting up to wake Moonkit up.
"Hiddenclan!?" meowed a drowsy Moonkit.
ReplyDeleteFawnpelt rouse Tigerkit- slowly- he is not a morning person.
Tigerkit yawned- and that yawn traveled to Moonkit- onto Featherkit- and then Jaykit.
"Sleepy Kitties!" Fawnpelt purred. She started to wash Tigerkit- making him look presentable- the others were fine. Just a few messes of fur here and there.
Featherkit wondered,
ReplyDelete"What if they don't accept us?" She asks worriedly,
"They- they will... I know a cat there.. She goes by the name of Shimmerpool. She doesn't trust many- but she does trust me." Fawnpelt meowed- with knowledge on the subject.
ReplyDeleteFeatherpaw nodded in trust.
ReplyDelete"Very well."
"And I know just where to find Hiddenclan. I've heard they live in a forest mainly consisting of Pine Trees- but their territory is also covered in shadows.." she explained.
